back when i was still in college, i was running late for class and had dropped off my car at a mechanic for a simple oil change... nothing more, nothing less... just an oil change... class was over (3 hours) and i went to go pick up the Z... i see it still on the lift. so i ask
me: "uhh, why is my car STILL on the lift? Oil changes don't take 3 hours..."
mechanic: "we found a problem with your car."
me: "a problem? what kind of problem??"
mechanic: "your main bearing seal is leaking... here in the back by the tranny" (he proceeds to show me some oil in that area)
me: "where's your manager?" (knowing damn well that someone is trying to take me for a $700 ride)
mechanic: "excuse me? why do you want him?"
me: "get me your manager or i'll start tearing this place appart..." at this time i was noticeably furious and he goes and get's his manager.
manager: "what seems to be the problem sir?"
me: "i don't know what kind of shit is going on here, but i brought my car here for an oil change 3 hours ago and now this asshole is telling me my main seal is leaking?!. I'm a mechanic myself and work on this car CONSTANTLY. The car is in top condition with NO LEAKS ANYWHERE. I had no time to do an oil change and brought it here."
manager: "i see, well sometimes a main seal just goes"
me: "are you fucking kidding me??? listen, get my car down NOW or else."
manager: "are you threatening me sir?"
me: "you better fucking believe it dickhead. get the car down NOW or i'm calling the cops and having the whole lot of you brought up on charges."
They wiped the oil off the motor, got the car off the lift and i left without paying for the oil change.
FYI, I've had my Z for 12 years... My Z is BY FAR the longest relationship i've ever had and i love that car more than any chick that's come my way... =)
